Child care providers,  sometimes feel a disconnect between the vision that brought them into the child care field and their day-to-day reality. Instead of confidently dealing with challenging behaviors, they often second-guess decisions, feel overwhelmed or get frustrated when they’re triggered or overreact.

Using her innovative Elemental Living(R) Model for Family and Personal Leadership (ELM), child care providers will learn to demystify challenging behaviors as they learn a powerful tool that will help them regain their center when out of balance with their children.

The ELM is a research informed model guided by imagery, brain science, and mindfulness principles. Providers will gain actionable strategies they can use immediately when those frustrations start to build and they struggle to know what to do next. The ELM is a powerful tool that takes providers out of of stable misery and back to the harmony and joy that brought them into the field.

Childcare professionals are often encouraged to respond with compassion, utilize strategies that will instill confidence into the children they serve, and maintain a calm and peaceful learning environment even in the midst of a child’s chaotic moment. While these suggestions are ideal, they are often made to providers who are filled with more overwhelm than self-compassion, doubt their skills and abilities to deal with challenging behaviors, and lack the internal resources they need to maintain calm and peace within themselves, let alone their classrooms. As a result, many providers are at risk for showing up everyday feeling burned out, unfulfilled, and with stress related physical and mental issues (ref). More specifically, providers work in a state of stable misery.

Through her 5 P.A.T.H.S. to Personal Evolution Framework (Perspective.Awareness.Tools.Healing.Self-transformation), providers will learn to use self-awareness, intuitive tools, and personal care strategies to strengthen their relationship with themselves so they can better serve the children in their care. The P.A.T.H.S. framework is based on mindfulness principles and brain science.

Through this talk, providers will explore the mindsets and habits necessary to break free from stable misery so they can embrace a deeper sense of creative joy in their work. Providers will illuminate personal triggers that may lead them to respond in less than ideal ways towards the children they serve. They will also discover powerful self-care strategies they can use to increase self-compassion and an internal sense of calm.

Despite good intentions, and deep insights from friends, books, and blogs, when we’re triggered, many of us find ourselves feeling frustrated and living in unhelpful cycles of stable misery with our partners or kids.

This experiential workshop will help participants gain clarity and direction on how to break unhelpful patterns in an important family relationship.
