Cancellation Policy

We know that life can be unpredictable, and committing to a family retreat is a big step. While we hope every family who registers will be able to attend, this experience requires significant preparation and upfront financial commitments to our venue and team. With that in mind, here’s what you can expect if plans change:

Your $500 deposit is non-refundable, as it helps us secure your family’s space and begin planning with confidence.

We’ll offer a partial refund, returning 50% of the amount paid minus the $500 deposit and credit card processing fees.

By this point, many of our retreat expenses are already in motion, and your contribution helps cover those costs.

While we won’t be able to recover certain costs, we’re committed to giving back what we can.

Because all lodging, meals, materials, and planning will have been finalized, we’re unable to offer refunds for cancellations after this date.

TRANSFER / SUBSTITUTION POLICY

You may transfer your registration to another eligible family on or before September 9, 2025 with written notice. Any price differences must be settled between you and the new family.

RETREAT CANCELLATION BY HOST

If the retreat must be canceled by the host due to weather, illness, venue closure, or other force majeure events, you will receive a full refund of all payments made to us. We are not responsible for travel-related expenses (airfare, car rental, etc.).

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: TRAVEL INSURANCE

We highly recommend each family purchase travel insurance that includes trip cancellation coverage for illness, emergencies, or other unexpected circumstances. We cannot offer exceptions to this policy after the cutoffs above.

Your Flights

Families may fly into either of the following airports:

  • Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) – approximately 30 minutes from Kanuga

     

  • Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) – approximately 1 hour from Kanuga

     

Kanuga does not offer a transportation shuttle, but you can easily reach the retreat center using:

  • Taxi services

     

  • Ride share apps (e.g., Lyft, Uber)

     

  • Private car services

  • We’ll gather for our first Family Welcome + Introduction Session at 7:00 PM

     

We recommend booking travel that allows your family to settle in, enjoy a nourishing meal, and arrive at the evening session feeling grounded and ready to begin.

Travel FAQ

We recommend arriving at Kanuga between 3:00–5:30 PM on Thursday, October 9th.
 This gives your family time to settle into your cabin, grab dinner, and be ready for our 7:00 PM Welcome & Family Introduction Session.

The retreat ends at 11:00 AM on Sunday, October 12th after a closing session and brunch.
 You’ll be free to head home that afternoon with full hearts and a clear plan forward.

Kanuga does not offer shuttle service. Families may use a taxi, Lyft/Uber, or schedule a private car service to reach the retreat center.

Once your spot is confirmed, you’ll receive a Retreat Welcome Guide with suggested packing lists and helpful reminders—including clothing for outdoor activities, cozy layers, and anything special your kids might want for comfort or downtime.

If you’d like to extend your stay at Kanuga, we can share contact details for booking directly through the venue (based on availability). Most families arrive Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday mid-day.
